Jonathan Winchell
Here is my biography of how I knew being an author was my goal in life. I have always enjoyed writing and that is where I first wrote in my local newspaper in the editorial section. it was not only a hobby I needed to have stability in which my rare disability literally stifled me in growing up and it held me back because it wasn’t mainstream in being born with a rare disease in Lafayette, California. I spoke to my family on what I wrote with no feedback, it was only a friend of my mom who said to her your son got in the paper and not me. It felt good at the moment it just meant more to me for my family to validate my future instead they wanted to go with the flow again not being mainstream in regards to my disability and in other aspects that also means having control and at that point I didn’t even know what to do about it.
It was so hard for me in my education, especially being born with Mosaic Down Syndrome in which I was left out and where my disability to date doesn’t fit in. As many years passed I develop my own self awareness and share my story about what is, “Mosaic Down Syndrome?”. It is where half of my cells are normal and the other half are abnormal. My everyday routine is I always strive to educate myself where I am outspoken knowing it is not mainstream.

I started this journey in my first book when I was inspired on how my imagination and creativity stood out. I just didn’t know where that would lead me to in my future. I realized after thirty years in my family business being in the Real Estate business wasn’t enough. The title of my first book was “Being Different Than My Family Living With Mosaic Down Syndrome Chromosome 21” and that was published in 2022, and it only took me six months to finish it. I didn’t know that I had it in me to complete it that fast and knowing I never gave myself credit because I always put unexpected expectations of myself because back in the 1970’s when I spoke about it wasn’t mainstream and it still isn’t. I questioned my love due to my disability. It was many years I learned how to shift to my own self acceptance.
I knew despite my disability I was an entrepreneur I just didn’t know it at the time. It was many years later after my dad passed away I found out on my own doing research online that my dad was an editor with co-editor John Lawrence where his brother was Ernest Lawrence who was a Noble Prize winner in Physics. I knew my mother was a teacher where she always corrected my grammar and it was an interesting education in growing up to say the least. I knew I was different which that made me who I am today. I than updated my second book titled, “Longing For A Breakthrough” which was published in 2025. I than published my third book titled, “The Adventures Of Forest” where you can also watch it on YouTube on The Spotlight Network hosted by Logan Crawford. Here is the link of the video…
